Avinash Jadhav, the BJP candidate from Karnataka's Chincholi and also the son of Umesh Jadhav has decided not to appear for three of the four papers of MD Medicine, due to his political commitments
Bengaluru: Avinash Jadhav, son of Umesh Jadhav, who contested against leader of opposition Mallikarjun Kharge in the Kalaburagi Lok Sabha constituency, is the BJP candidate for the Assembly elections from Chincholi in Karnataka.
Umesh Jadhav had relinquished his seat as he got an offer from the BJP. As the seat lies vacant now, Chincholi will go for by-polls on May 19.
It is interesting to note that Avinash Jadhav has decided not to appear for three papers of MD medicine. He did attend an exam on Wednesday, but in view of the upcoming bypolls and the hectic campaigning it involves, he has decided to give the exams a miss.
“There are three more exams left. I need at least four months to prepare. But I have not done it. I am concentrating on the MLA elections. If not this time, I will give it a try next time,” Avinash told reporters.
Avinash Jadhav also sounded confident ahead of the polls.
“My father has earned a good name. The people of the constituency wanted me to contest. My father has carried out several developmental activities. But as he contested Lok Sabha elections, he could not complete it. If elected, I will carry them forward,” he added.
Earlier in the day (May 10), several BJP leaders including V Somanna, BJP MLA from Govindarajanagar canvassed for Avinash. Stressing the point that it is only the BJP that can deliver things, he said the voters would vote in Avinash’s favour.
But on the other hand, senior Congress leaders Siddaramaiah and Mallikarjun Kharge tore into Umesh Jadhav.
Siddaramaiah said, “I have given him whatever he asked for. I had even made him a Parliamentary secretary, giving him a minister rank. He also wanted to be a minister, but I told him to wait for two years as there were seniors in the queue. But he is a lion masquerading as a tiger.”
