TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu will step down from his post as chief minister YSRCP swept over Andhra Pradesh in both Assembly and Lok Sabha polls

Amaravathi: In a shocking turn of events, YSRCP in Andhra Pradesh swept over Andhra Pradesh in the Assembly and Lok Sabha election results. In the assembly elections, YSR Congress Party secured 148 seats while Chandrababu Naidu-led Telugu Desam Party (TDP) obtained 25 seats and Pawan Kalyan's Jana Sena Party (JSP) managed to achieve one seat out of 175 seats.

Out of 25 Lok Sabha constituencies, the YSRCP secured 22 seats while the TDP managed to secure just three seats.

In Pulivendula assembly constituency, where YSRCP chief Jaganmohan Reddy contested, the leader saw a whopping 1,31,776 votes, without giving the TDP a chance at victory. Meanwhile, TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu who contested from Kuppam constituency received 98,833 votes and got the better of opponent YSRCP candidate Chandramouli who obtained 69,251 votes.

In Gajuwaka and Bhimavaram constituencies, Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan contested from both the segments where he suffered a crushing defeat by YSRCP candidates. In Gajuwaka constituency, the JSP secured 58,283 votes while YSRCP's Nagi Reddy Tippala bagged 74,769 votes. In Bhimavaram constituency, JSP secured 61,951 votes as the YSRCP candidate Grandhi Srinivas secured 69,743 votes.

After the surprising turn of events, Chandrababu Naidu will step down from his post of chief minister with YSRCP leader Jaganmohan Reddy all set to take oath as the new chief minister of Andhra Pradesh on May 30.

Before the state assembly polls, Chandrababu Naidu had come out with the strategy called "Mission 150" where he aimed at winning at least 150 seats in the state. But the election results came in favour of YSRCP where Jagan seem to have accomplished what Naidu set out to do, well almost.
