Though the TRS party is leading in Telangana, the Lok Sabha election did not go well for K Chandrashekar Rao's daughter as her BJP opponent obtained 1,76,226 votes, while Kavitha secured 1,33,098 votes

Hyderabad: Chandrashekhar Rao-led Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) is heading for a comfortable win in the state, as the TRS is leading in 10 out of the total 17 Lok Sabha seats. However, the TRS earlier claimed that their party would win as many as 16 seats with the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) likely to retain the Hyderabad parliamentary constituency.

Earlier, KCR had claimed that his party would sweep all the Lok Sabha seats in Telangana and stated that he would have a firm hold in case the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) falls short of numbers to form the government.

However, the NDA is currently leading in over 300 constituencies. It is unlikely that the TRS will play a role in national politics this time. Rao has been advocating trying to form a Federal Front with other regional parties, for which he met several state-level leaders of different political parties.

In 2014 Lok Sabha election, TRS won 11 seats, followed by the Congress winning 2 seats, BJP 1, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) 1, YSRCP and AIMIM 1 each in the state. Subsequently, MPs from the TDP, YSRCP and one from Congress defected to the TRS. Before the 2019 Lok Sabha poll results, the TRS rose to power in December 2018 when state assembly elections were held. Out of 119 assembly seats, TRS won 88 seats.
