Telangana went to polls on April 11. The candidature of TRS's Kalvakuntla Kavitha from Nizamabad and AIMIM's Asaduddin Owaisi from Hyderabad have made Telangana the home of few key constituencies this Lok Sabha election.

Hyderabad: The ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) in Telangana is ahead of its rivals in 11 Lok Sabha constituencies among the total 17, according to trends made available by the Election Commission.

Meanwhile, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi is leading in Hyderabad constituency.

Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao's daughter K Kavitha who is seeking another term in the Nizamabad Lok Sabha constituency was gheraoed when she arrived to cast her vote on April 11. TRS MP Kavitha was gheraoed by several women farmers questioning her for not fulfilling promises that were made in 2014. A total of 177 farmers contested against K Kavitha in Nizamabad.

However, the thumping victory of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi seen during the Assembly polls in December has filled the party with hopes of winning all the 16 seats in the state, leaving its ally All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) to fight for Hyderabad in which Asaduddin Owaisi is contesting.

Nizamabad hit the headlines after over 170 farmers filed nominations for the April 11 polls as a mark of protest, alleging that the ruling TRS had failed to ensure Minimum Support Price for turmeric and red jowar (sorghum) produce and in establishing a turmeric board in Nizamabad.

Two key constituencies in Telangana:

Hyderabad- In this constituency, All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader Asaduddin Owaisi is contesting against BJP's Bhagwanth Rao and INC candidate Firoz Khan.

Nizamabad - TRS candidate K Kavitha is seeking another term in the Nizamabad Lok Sabha constituency where BJP candidate D Aravind and INC candidate Madhu Goud Yaskhi are contesting.
