Andhra Pradesh chief minister and Telugu Desam Party chief Chandrababu Naidu has requested the Election Commission to conduct elections using ballot paper.

Amaravati: TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu will be interacting with 16 contestants per day from May 2 onwards.

Party leaders from 2 Lok Sabha and 14 Assembly constituencies will be attending  these meetings. Naidu will discuss issues pertaining to the elections.

Naidu will be addressing issues about how the elections were conducted at their respective constituencies apart from the functioning of the party cadre, progress of leaders, booth level polling analysis, etc.

Party sources said that Naidu would educate the leaders, rank and file the precautions that should be taken during the counting day.

TDP’s Naidu has stated that EVMs are vulnerable to programming errors and the BJP only gets votes through manipulating EVMs.

Chandrababu Naidu stated that they had suggested the Election Commission to conduct election with VVPATS. Naidu stated that now they are looking to fight for ballot papers. He also took a jibe at the current locations of the EVMs. "They have all been taken for servicing, but who knows where they are taken and for what," questioned Naidu.

Total of 25 Lok Sabha and 175 Assembly segments went to polls on April 11.

Across states there have been several instances where the EVM's have misbehaved, in some cases after some of the votes have been recorded in them, and in many cases even before polling started.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) maintains that the EVMs are foolproof and cannot be manipulated. They also insist that the percentage of EVM malfunctions is small and possibly within the acceptable limits though what is an acceptable number is not clear as even a handful of votes can potentially alter the result, say TDP sources.
