The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu has won six times in a row from 1989 in Kuppam constituency where he defeated the Indian National Congress five times and YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) candidate in 2014.
Amaravathi: The fate of Andhra Pradesh's chief ministerial candidate will be announced on May 23 while the Assembly elections took place on April 11. This election was held concurrently with the 17th Lok Sabha election.
In Kuppam constituency, Naidu will be contesting against YSR Congress Party's K Chandramouli, BJP candidate Tulasi Nath NS and Congress's BR Suresh Babu.
Currently, the YSRCP is holding 24,613 votes in the Kuppam Assembly constituency, while TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu is ahead with 29,480
Kuppam has also been Chandrababu Naidu's bastion since 1989 where he defeated the Indian National Congress five times and YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) candidate in 2014.
In March 2019, Naidu named the Assembly election as "Mission 150 Plus", as the party is aiming to win at least 150 out of the total 175 seats in the Assembly.
However, the fate of this constituency will be announced on May 23 that will determine if Naidu's "Mission 150 plus" will be a success or a flop.
Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh recorded 65.96% voter turnout till 6 pm on April 11 in polls conducted for 175 Assembly seats and 25 Lok Sabha constituencies in the first phase of elections.
