Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu was accompanied by Vijayawada MP Kesineni Srinivas and other senior leaders of the TDP for the sit-in protest.
Vijayawada: Hours after Andhra Pradesh police officials raided Telugu Desam Party's (TDP) MP CM Ramesh’s house in Kadapa district, state chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday held a sit-in protest in Vijayawada.
Naidu, along with Vijayawada MP Kesineni Srinivas and other senior leaders of the TDP held a sit-in protest after garlanding Dr BR Ambedkar's statue. Addressing people, Naidu alleged that the searches were taking place at the behest of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“Today, an unfortunate incident has taken place. To weaken the TDP, raids are being conducted in the state by the EC on behalf of YSRCP chief Jagan Mohan Reddy. I condemn it strongly." Naidu said.
“We have only asked for what is due. Promises were made during the bifurcation, and none of them has been fulfilled,” he added as he hit out at Modi.
Naidu’s sit-in protest was held days after the senior TDP leader and Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) Trust Board chairman Putta Sudhakar Yadav's residence in Proddatur in Kadapa district was raided. Naidu also claimed that these raids were politically motivated, and are trying to swing public opinion against him.
Andhra Pradesh will go to polls for Lok Sabha and state Assembly on April 11.
