The BJP is set to witness a landslide victory in Karnataka Lok Sabha election and the revolt against the JD(S) leader and state chief minister Kumaraswamy has already begun

Bengaluru: The banner of revolt against Karnataka chief minister HD Kumaraswamy has begun with the BJP leading in 24 of the 28 Lok Sabha seats in the state.

BJP leader and state MLA R Ashoka said on Thursday (May 23), "There is a greater Modi wave this time. Congress is anyway upset with the JD(S) following the coalition. Kumaraswamy must not wait a minute more. He must rush to the Raj Bhavan and submit his resignation."

Sources said that the JD(S) has already opened its channels for discussion with the BJP. Kumaraswamy has rushed to his father and former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda's house to seek his advice. Senior Gowda, on the eve of Lok Sabha results, had criticised Narendra Modi, calling him a 'marketing manager'.

The JD(S) and BJP have not had a cheerful past. Their coalition was a disaster when they joined hands in 2007. Even if the alliance fructifies, it will have to be on BJP’s terms now.

Sources said that Karnataka BJP president BS Yeddyurappa will undoubtedly become the chief minister catering to the Lingayat belt, while Kumaraswamy's brother HD Revanna could be made the deputy chief minister.

Kumaraswamy will hold a meeting with his coalition partner Congress before taking a final call on his political move. Another option he has, according to sources, is to tender his resignation, allowing Congress's G Parameshwara to take on the mantle while his brother Revanna is made the deputy chief minister.

The BJP is sitting in the opposition with 104 members in the 224-House and disgruntled MLAs of the Congress along with few other MLAs are sitting on the fence waiting for the right time to make the 'dramatic move'.

At the end of it all, the Congress-JD(S) coalition government is sure to collapse, according to BJP sources.

It is worth recalling what Yeddyurappa had said while campaigning in April. "Once BJP wins Karnataka Lok Sabha election, the ruling government will collapse and BJP will form the government."
