PV Sindhu has donated Rs 5 lakh each to Andhra Pradesh and Telangana to fight against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19)
Hyderabad: For the fight against the novel coronvirus (COVID-19), world champion badminton player PV Sindhu on Thursday (March 26) announced that she has donated Rs 5 lakh each to Andhra Pradesh and Telangana governments.

“I hereby donate an amount of Rs 5,00,000/- each (Rs five lakhs ) towards the "Chief Ministers Relief Fund" for the States of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to fight against COVID-19. @TelanganaCMO @AndhraPradeshCM (sic),” Sindhu tweeted to her two million-plus users.

Replying to Sindhu’s post, many Twitter users hailed the Hyderabad-based player’s contribution to both states.
India is under a 21-day lockdown to combat the spread of coronavirus. So far, over 500 coronavirus cases have been reported in the country. People are staying at home after Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a three-week lockdown.
All sports events have been either cancelled or postponed due to coronavirus. Tokyo Olympics 2020 has been postponed to next year.
Earlier, Olympic silver medallist Sindhu had posted a video message on her Twitter account urging everyone to stay at home. “Please stay safe #stayhome We are a great nation and in this very difficult time let’s all fight together and overcome this #COVIDー19 (sic).”
