Indian airports are targets not only of terrorists but also of a woman thief. A high-profile, educated woman thief targeted multiple shops at various airports like Kolkata, Bengaluru and, possibly, Delhi and Mumbai too. She travels from one city to another only to target the shops at Indian airports.

Meet Munmun Barua, who was caught on July 23 at the Bengaluru airport while stealing a Fossil (brand) watch. Before stealing the watch, she had already targeted two more shops successfully and managed to escape the attention of security guards.

“Munmun was travelling by GoAir G8120 from Bangalore to Delhi. She was caught stealing a wristwatch from the Fossil outlet,” an airport official told MyNation.

“On further investigation by the CISF, it was found that she had stolen a power bank and few accessories also from Shopper’s Stop,” the official added.

When CISF personnel checked the CCTV footage, it was found that she had stolen from every shop she visited on Monday at Bangalore airport.

“She told us that she had graduated from a prestigious college and that she belonged to a middle-class family. She also confessed that she had targeted shops at the airports of Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, etc,” the official said.

When the shoplifter was handed over to local police, it was found that she had been arrested earlier and was out on bail. Cops suspect that she is involved in more than a dozen cases of theft.
