Woman attempts to immolates self, children; alleges police inaction in husband death probe

Ariyalur: A woman tried to set herself and her children on fire in front of a district collector's office at Ariyalur in Tamil Nadu. She alleged that despite requests, the police were not probing the death of her husband. Victim Jayalakshmi's husband was found dead at his house in Silambur village with serious injuries on September 20. Jayalakshmi had filed a complaint alleging foul play and requested a probe. But the police had not taken any action so far, she alleged. Jayalakshmi tried to pour kerosene on herself and children, when the police personnel stopped her and poured water on her, promising an investigation into the matter.
