Will AIADMK and DMK try to woo Rajinikanth to conquer Chennai?

We have seen how the vote share stands for various political parties in different regions of Tamil Nadu. Let us now take a look at a region which is possibly the most developed part of the state, Chennai.

Caste and religion do not play a major role in Chennai region, more so because of higher levels of education among the people in the region. However, hero-worshipping is rampant in this zone.

The two biggest issues in the region are lack of regular drinking water supply and surprisingly, unemployment.

42% of the voters in Chennai have said that erratic drinking water supply is a concern that needs to be addressed on a war-footing while 27% believe that despite Chennai zone being a metropolitan area, it still lacks employment opportunities.

The voters are also very vocal about the Cauvery issue. 24% of the voters believe that getting more Cauvery water from Karnataka will solve the water crisis in the region.  

Even in this region, AIADMK is projected to lose its voter base according to the survey. While the vote share for the party was 42% in 2014 Lok Sabha elections, it is projected to fall to 28% in 2019. Even DMK is slated to lose its vote share from 32% to 23%. And this is thanks to the entry of Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan's entry into politics.

A good 19% of the people surveyed In Chennai region said that they will support Thalaiva while another 5% said that they will support Kamal Haasan.

It is also interesting that 7% of the voters root for BJP. 18% of the people will accept a Rajinikanth-Modi alliance, while 38% said that they will moderately support the alliance.
