Lucknow: The special investigation team (SIT) investigating the murder of the Apple area manager Vivek Tiwari on September 29, has re-created the sequence of the events at the crime spot with the two accused constables on Sunday.
Earlier, on October 2, the Uttar Pradesh police conducted a similar operation in the presence of the sole eyewitness to the murder — the victim’s colleague Sana Khan.
The two constables Prashant Chaudhary and Sandeep Yadav, who are currently in custody, were brought to the scene in an SUV by the team led by inspector general of police (Lucknow zone) Sujit Pandey.
The investigating officer of the case inspector (Mahanagar) Vikas Kumar Pandey was present at the scene too.
A similar SUV and police motorcycle were arranged by the SIT for re-creating the scene, according to reports.
“We wanted to see the conditions that would have been there at the time of the incident. So we decided to hold this exercise around the same time the incident occurred,” said Pandey, as reported by the Hindustan Times.
Tiwari was shot at around 1:30 AM in the Gomti Nagar area of the city. He was travelling with Sana when the police constables, apparently noticing "suspicious activity", signalled him to stop the car. However, Tiwari tried to run them over as alleged by the constables. At this point, Chaudhary alleged he took out his service pistol and shot at Tiwari.
As a result, Tiwari lost control of the vehicle and hit the constable's motorcycle before ramming his car into an electricity pole. Later, he succumbed to his injuries.
