Vijayawada enters global aviation map, first flight to Singapore flagged off

Vijayawada of Andhra Pradesh entered the global aviation map with the first international flight to Singapore. The Indigo flight was flagged off by Vice President Venkaiah Naidu along with Union civil aviation minister Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu, minister of state for civil aviation Jayant Sinha from Gannavaram airport. This connectivity is expected to boost tourism and expand India's reach in south-east Asia. The 180-seater Vijayawada-Singapore non-stop flight would be operated by the Andhra Pradesh government as it has set aside Rs 18.35 crore viability fund for six months.
