In a terrifying and gruesome reminder of the Nirbhaya case, a newly-married woman in Uttar Pradesh's Baghpat was brutally beaten up and an iron rod thrust into her private parts, injuring her severely.
The newly-wed Muslim woman faced sexual violence at her in-law's place. The sexual assault left her intestines and uterus damaged as well.
The incident came to light when the girl's maternal grandmother came to meet her. After seeing the condition of the girl, she rushed her to a hospital in Ghaziabad. The condition of the woman is critical.
The police have asked the SP of Baghpat, Jaiprakash, to take action against the woman's husband, Nadeem, father-in-law Asghar, mother-in-law Khalija and brother-in-law Ibrahith. The accused have been charged under sections 498 A, 307 and 323 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
