A senior police official told MyNation that an encounter broke out after terrorists in hiding fired upon security forces during a door-to-door search operation last evening.
Security forces on Thursday gunned down two terrorists in an overnight encounter which broke out on Wednesday Evening in North Kashmir's Sopore.

"Two terrorists have been killed so far in this encounter and the operation is still underway," he added.
The identity of the deceased terrorists are yet to be ascertained but sources suggest that both of them are locals.
The operation was initiated by a joint team of the Indian Army's RR, the CRPF and the Special Operations Group of Jammu and Kashmir Police after receiving information about the presence of two or three terrorists in the area.
Following clashes, authorities have imposed section 144 of the CrPC in the area and internet services have been barred as a precautionary measure.
