Agartala/New Delhi: If a Bengal school courted controversy by asking a question on the 'struggle' of Trinamool Congress (TMC), now a higher secondary school in Tripura has asked students to write a short note on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) that has recently come to power in the north-eastern state.
The incident occurred in a school in the Unakoti district of Tripura. It was a two-page question paper meant for students of Class IX. In the second part of the question paper, students were asked to write a 'tika' (Bengali for a short note) on the BJP; 3 marks were allotted for this question. There was no alternative to that question. That is, the students had to answer the question, and this raised the hackles of the opposition.
Speaking to MyNation, CPI{M) state secretary Bijan Dhar alleged, "To ask a question like this is clear saffronisation of education. This is unjustified. Had the question been posed to a senior student or had there been an option given to them to answer an alternative question, we could dismiss it as an innocent mistake. Now, we can't say that."
