With Telangana elections fast approaching, PM Modi addressed public meetings at Nizamabad and Mahabubnagar today and he will also campaign for the party on December 3, addressing more rallies.
Telangana: Prime Minister Narendra Modi was in Telangana today to address the people ahead of Assembly elections in the state on December 7. He will also address another rally in Telangana on December 3.
Modi addressed public meetings at Nizamabad and Mahabubnagar on November 27.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressing the crowd at Nizamabad, on Tuesday, ahead of the Telangana Assembly elections, criticised the opposition parties - Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and Congress. He called the two as "two sides of the same coin". In his address, he said that both were family dynasties that have damaged the country and the state. He called upon the people to "punish" K Chandrashekar Rao-led TRS, which is currently in power, for not fulfilling the promises of he made during previous elections.
“The chief minister was a Union minister with the Congress-led UPA and was controlled by madam before becoming the chief minister of Telangana,” said the PM, calling Sonia Gandhi as 'madam'. He commented on their election plans as a friendly match between the two and that the two are not against each other. They are "family dynasties that play on vote bank politics and minority appeasement ", alleged Modi, calling them two sides of the same coin from every aspect.
Modi took the opportunity and also spoke about contradiction in Rahul Gandhi’s speech against TRS. Congress president had called K Chandrasekhar Rao-led TRS as a family party, all the while sitting next to his mother Sonia Gandhi.
Criticising Rao’s government, he said that the chief minister should go to London for the next five years and that he has not done enough for Nizamabad. Taking a dig at Rao’s promise before coming to power, Modi said, “The chief minister said he will make Nizamabad like London turning it into a smart city, but here the people don’t even have footpaths, water supply, roads or even electricity. I asked my pilot to take the helicopter for a spin around Nizamabad before landing to see what work has been done." He probed into the underground drainage work that is being carried out and asked whether it was drainage work or damage work.
Narendra Modi spoke about the availability of Godavari water supply that was promised by Rao during his previous campaign. “A person who can’t get water, should not be re-elected,” he said.
PM Modi also targeted the fact that TRS government had not implemented the Ayushman Bharath scheme in Telangana. The scheme PM said was made to serve over 50crore people. Rs 5 lakh credit line was being extended by the central government for those in need. He further stated that the scheme has helped 3 lakh families so far, but no one from Telangana has benefitted from it. At the same time, the condition of Telangana hospitals was "dismal", he said. He mocked the chief minister for being insecure and not bringing the scheme to the state as it would have been under the name of Prime Minister Modi.
The PM then commented on his party’s motto and said that BJP has only one mantra, sabka saath, sabka vikas, (collective efforts, inclusive growth) and does not believe in vote bank politics. He said, “Whenever vote bank, minority appeasement and a family run the show, the development of the state stops.”
Modi would address another campaign meeting at the Lal Bahadur stadium in Hyderabad on December 3. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah, who took part in the campaign on Sunday, would again visit the state on November 28 and December 2.
The BJP is going solo in the state Assembly polls while the Congress is leading a 'grand alliance' of opposition parties including the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), the Communist Party of India (CPI) and the Telangana Jana Samiti (TJS).
