But it is said that Madhavi has been admitted to Yashodha Hospital near SR Nagar with her severed hands, bleeding severely. Sandeep is said to have suffered injuries on his back.

According to reports, Sandeep belonged to the Scheduled Caste community and Madhavi is from a Backward Class community. Both fell in love when Madhavi was still in school. The couple waited for Madhavi to turn 18 and Sandeep, 21, studying at Vivekananda Degree College, Kukatpally. Sandeep had lost his father, and his mother raised him up by working as domestic help.

Report in The Indian Express stated that Madhavi's father asked the couple to meet him at SR Nagar. With the hope of parents accepting their relationship, the couple arrived at SR Nagar. Instead, they saw a bike-borne man taking out a sickle from his bag to hit Sandeep. When he fell, the man started attacking Madhavi. A passerby tried to stop this, but he was threatened.

It is said that Madhavi was heard shouting 'Nana stop' meaning 'father stop it'.

Thus, police too suspect that the person who assaulted the couple is likely to be Madhavi's father.
