BJP’s Lakhipur unit president Saddam Hussain lodged an FIR against the teacher, Abu Taleb, for the ‘derogatory’ remarks against the Prime Minister at the Goalpara police station. The inspector of schools, Goalpara, lodged an FIR, too.
Guwahati: Assam Police have detained a school teacher for his alleged derogatory remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi on social media. The police have registered a case in this connection.
The government school teacher has been identified as Abu Taleb. He is an assistant teacher of the Hindi language at the Lakhipur Higher Secondary School in lower Assam’s Goalpara district.
Abu Taleb posted on social media, “Voting for Narendra Modi’s BJP candidate and garlanding a dog is the same thing.”
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s Lakhipur unit president Saddam Hussain lodged an FIR against the teacher for the ‘derogatory’ remarks against the Prime Minister at the Goalpara police station.
Apart from the BJP worker, the inspector of schools, Goalpara, has lodged an FIR against Abu Taleb.
Based on the two complaints, the Goalpara district police registered a case (no 660/2018) against Abu Taleb. The police detained the teacher on Monday. The cops seized a mobile phone and some documents from Abu Taleb.
Goalpara district superintendent of police (SP) Amitav Sinha said that the police had registered a case and detained the government school teacher based on the two complaints. “However, he has been allowed to go after the interrogation. Our investigation is going on,” the Goalpara district SP said.
On the other hand, the state education department suspended the government teacher for his alleged post against the Prime Minister.
