Ramanathapuram: In an attempt to have a clean environment, students from Ramanathapuram gathered to clean Krusadai's coastal area in Tamil Nadu.
With the help of 20 forest officials, 36 students from Vivekananda College cleared one ton of plastic waste in three hours. The plastic debris, which was accumulated on Krusadai Island, an eco-sensitive zone was cleared by the students on Republic day.
The majority of waste collected from this area was snack wrappers, plastic water bottles, oil packets and liquor bottles. The clean environment drive was initiated by district collector Veera Raghava Rao and wildlife warden Ashok Kumar, IFS, as part of Republic Day celebrations.
