Tamil Nadu: Rs 1 crore missing after van turtles in Ramanathapuram

Ramanathapuram: Staff members of a private agency carrying a huge amount of cash in a van for loading ATMs of State Bank of India (SBI) have alleged that Rs 1 crore was missing after the van overturned on Kadaladi–East Coast Road in Sayalkudi police station limits on the night of December 20.

According to the police, the Madurai-based private agency’s vehicle was carrying Rs 1.85 crore for loading ATMs. The van was on its way to load an ATM at Mudukulathur after loading four ATMs when it turned turtle after the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle. The van was transporting Rs 1.20 crore during the mishap, but the agency staff members allege that Rs 1 crore was missing after the incident. Superintendent of police, Omprakash Meena states that the lock was intact when he rushed to the spot.  A case has been registered in Sayalkudi police station, and further reports are awaited.
