Pushpalatha (24) fell sick and husband Franklin (27) began to have an extramarital affair. When the wife questioned about the issue, he justified his extramarital affair referring to the Supreme Court's verdict on adultery.
Chennai: A woman committed suicide in MGR Nagar by hanging herself in the house while nobody was around on Saturday (September 29) soon after her husband justified his extramarital affair referring to the Supreme Court's verdict on adultery.
Franklin (27), a security guard, married Pushpalatha (24) after the two fell in love with each other despite family members' reluctance. The two also have a child now.
Just when Pushpalatha fell sick due to tuberculosis, her husband began to allegedly show less interest on her. He also began to avoid providing financial help to the family and for her treatment. Doubting his behaviour, Pushpalatha questioned him about the extramarital affair where he openly accepted it.
Pushpalatha said she would report this in the police station. Franklin, citing the verdict of the Supreme Court on adultery, said that the extramarital affair is not a crime.
The Supreme Court recently delivered its verdict on Section 497 decrimininalising adultery. After hearing this, the woman committed suicide.
