Ramanathapuram: Five Indian fishing trawlers which were seized by the Sri Lankan Navy for illegal fishing and trespassing in the Sri Lankan waters were on Thursday handed over to the Indian Coast Guard by the Sri Lanka Navy after coordinating with the department of Sri Lanka Coast Guard.
Before handing over the trawlers, a group of Indian technicians arrived in Sri Lanka to repair the trawlers anchored at the jetty of SLNS Elara in Karainagar.
After the repairs, the Indian trawlers were handed over to Indian Coast Guard ship “Ameya” by a craft belonging to the Sri Lanka Coast Guard at the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) off Kankasanturai, Sri Lanka.
