New Delhi: Delhi's long-awaited Signature Bridge, which was opened for the public on November 4, has become a selfie danger zone as people are seen climbing carelessly on the suspension cables or standing too close to the railing for a “perfect” picture.
India today reported that their team had spotted a man putting his young daughter on the suspension cables amid fats moving traffic. They also saw people climbing the suspension cables and even some of them tried to take their hands off from the rails.
Currently, there is no security patrol teams on the bridge, but local police said that they will step up security on the bridge.
"We are regularly patrolling the stretch and security has been increased. We are also informing people about their safety and have written to the civic authorities to put up boards about dos and don'ts and actions that can endanger lives," Atul Kumar Thakur, deputy commissioner of police (Northeast Delhi) claimed, reported the news website.
The bridge, built over the Yamuna River, is the first asymmetrical cable-stayed bridge in India.
The bridge also includes a glass-steel observation deck at the top of the bride, although it will not be available for public use for at least another three months, according to media reports. The deck offers a panoramic view of the city.
