While mounting an attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Thiruvananthapuram, Tharoor was trying to put PM Modi in the dock for not wearing the Muslim skull cap.

For senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor, headgears adorned proudly by the tribes of North East India are “outlandish” and the Naga headdress as “hilarious” as it was full of “feathers”.

While mounting an attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Thiruvananthapuram, Tharoor was trying to put PM Modi in the dock for not wearing the Muslim skull cap.

“Why does our Prime Minister who wears all sorts of outlandish headgear wherever he goes around the country, around the world, always refuses to wear the Muslim skull cap. You see him in hilarious Naga headdress with feathers and you see him in various kinds of extraordinary outfits,” Tharoor said.

Tharoor was speaking at a seminar titled, ‘Standing up to hatred: Violence and intolerance in contemporary India’, organised by the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Development Studies, run by the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee.
