Woman allegedly gang-raped by 7 at beach in Udupi; 6 detained for questioning

Udupi: A woman filed a complaint on November 25 accusing seven men of trying to rape her near Bengre beach in Udupi, Karnataka. The woman is from Bantwal and had visited Bengre beach with a youth. Seven men allegedly thrashed the youth and tried to rape her. Hearing the woman scream for help, Bengre residents gathered and the men fled. The police have started an investigation and launched a manhunt for the culprits. Six suspects have already been taken into custody for questioning.
