Saudi Arabia lauds Modi’s leadership, says he is ‘very vocal’ about Indian consumer

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s reputation of being the ‘chowkidaar’ (protector) of the country was acknowledged by the Saudi Arabia’s energy minister who said that the Indian leader was very vocal about the Indian consumer and his views would be taken into consideration before a major decision on cut in oil production is taken by big players in the business. 

Saudi minister Khalid Al Falih was asked a question on the views of US President Donald Trump. Responding to the reporter, Al Falih began by saying that the views of President Trump are taken seriously. 

Even though the question was only on President Trump, Al Falih added that the views of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi would also be taken into consideration.

He recalled the bilateral meeting between India and Saudi Arabia on the sidelines of the G20 meeting last week in Buenos Aires. He said Prime Minister Modi “put his views very strongly, that he cares for the Indian consumer.” Recalling his three earlier meetings with the Indian Prime Minister, and said he had been “very vocal.”

Al Falih also said that the consumer is an important part of the deliberation, even if the consumer is not physically present in the room.
