According to sources, the RSS feels that Pillai has failed in handling the Sabarimala protests. The RSS is planning to hand over the charge of rallies and protests to former BJP state chief Kummanam Rajasekharan.

The BJP is also not rejecting the possibility of bringing Rajasekharan back to the state by appointing him as NDA chairman or any other central leadership role.

The RSS has presented Rajasekharan’s involvement in Aranmula protests and several other issues at Sabarimala, before the BJP national president Amit Shah.

The RSS stand is that his participation in the Sabarimala issue is vital for the party. Sources close to the BJP and RSS say that a final decision regarding this will be taken within one month.

Rajasekharan is expected to arrive in Kerala after Mizoram Assembly results are announced on December 11. Rajasekharan himself clarified, stating, “I have no intimation regarding any decision to send me back to Kerala. I can only obey the direction of the president (Amit Shah).”

Rajasekharan also said that if he had worked according to his wishes, he would not have gone to Mizoram as the governor.

Earlier, Rajasekharan said, “Now, I am doing the duty entrusted with me, sincerely. I will do any job assigned to me by the president.”

He added that he would not make any comment on the Sabarimala issue since he is the governor of Mizoram.

He had expressed his desire to continue in Kerala politics while he was appointed as the governor of Mizoram. Resentment had originated among the party workers after he was removed from the party chief position for his appointment as Mizoram governor.

A four-member MP team led by BJP national general secretary Saroj Pandey was sent to Kerala following a complaint against Pillai. The team had held talks with the state leaders too.
