Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Police have said that they will not provide security for the women reaching Sabarimala to visit the temple, till the end of the pilgrimage season. The decision was taken on the basis of the intelligence report that there is a probability of a clash at the famous shrine if women try to enter the temple.

As per reports, the Kerala Police also said that the state government will take the final decision.

The number of devotees at the Sabarimala temple is increasing day by day as the pilgrimage season is coming to an end.

Meanwhile, Koyilandy native Bindu and Malappuram's Kanakadurga ended their hunger strike at the Kottayam Medical College Hospital after police gave them assurance that they will try to provide an opportunity for duo to climb the hilltop after the Mandalam season.

They were admitted in hospital on Monday and they started their hunger strike at around 2 pm on Tuesday, demanding their release from virtual police custody. They also alleged that the police had seized their phones.

Kanakadurga and Bindu attempted to enter the Sabarimala temple but were stopped by the police on Monday.

The women had said that they will not return without darshan at Sabarimala. But, the police had to take them back due to security issues. Bindu said that they would trek to the temple since police had promised to escort them to Sannidhanam. Those who are staging protests are violating the law, Bindu had said.

In reply, many Keralites and other people from different parts of the world have questioned the grounds of Bindu’s statement by asking, who is Bindu to say that the devotees are violating the law? Does she know the Indian constitution and details of the Supreme Court verdict on Sabarimala?

According to research by MyNation, Bindu hails from Pathanamthitta district. She completed her studies from Government Law College, Ernakulam.

Earlier, she worked at Markaz Law College, Kozhikode, as an assistant professor and has also taught in many other colleges. She is a guest lecturer at School of Legal Studies, Thalassery campus, Kannur University. She has been teaching in the Thalassery campus for about a year. She lives in Kozhikode.
