Srinagar: For the first time after the Rohingya infiltration in Jammu and Kashmir, the state government has initiated a process of collecting data of the illegal immigrants.
This move of the state government came a month after the union home minister Rajnath Singh ordered the collection of data of the Rohingyas. The union minister also asked the state to collect biometric data of Rohingyas living in the state.
After the collection of data, the Centre is expected to hold diplomatic talks with Myanmar in order to deport the Rohingyas from India.
Jammu and Kashmir Police are circulating forms to collect details of the Rohingyas and MyNation has got hold of one of them:
The Rohingyas have to fill all the key details including their NHRC Card Number and permanent address in Myanmar.
Jammu and Kashmir governor Satya Pal Malik said days ago that the process to collect details of Rohingyas had been initiated and would be completed within 2 months.
The deportation of Rohingiyas will follow a two-fold process. Firstly, the state government will collect initial details of the immigrants. Secondly, the state will collect biometric details after which they will be sent back to their native place.
In Jammu, the settlement of Rohingyas in the heart of the city has triggered panic. The intelligence agencies are worried that these infiltrators can be used as terror proxies to pose a serious threat to the security of the nation.
During the Sunjwan Army Camp terror attack in February 2018, security agencies, during the investigation, found involvement of Rohingyas, who provided shelter to terrorists before they carried out the deadly attack.
