20 killed, 12 injured in road accident in Jammu and Kashmir

 A vehicle travelling from Banihal to Ramban skidded off the road near Kayla Mode in Ramban along the Srinagar-Jammu highway  

Srinagar-Jammu: In a tragic event on Saturday morning, a minibus travelling from Banihal to Ramban skidded off the road near Kayla Mode along the Srinagar-Jammu highway.

 

The accident occurred at 11 am in the morning and senior district official told MyNation that the vehicle overturned and rolled down into a 500ft deep gorge near Kayla mode in Ramban.

 

SSP Ramban Anita Sharma confirmed the accident and said that twenty passengers died on the spot while twelve others suffered critical injuries. About 3-4 critically injured passengers have been airlifted to Army Command Hospital, Udhampur for treatment.

District Administration rushed additional rescue teams to evacuate the injured. As of now, 32 casualties have been reported as the bus is not yet recovered from the gorge and rescue operations are underway.
