New Delhi: All of a sudden, Congress president Rahul Gandhi has a vociferous supporter and it is not from his party or within the country. But, it’s from across the border - Pakistan. Yes, you heard it right.
Former Pakistan interior minister Rehman Malik is the latest cheerleader of Rahul, so much so he has called the Gandhi scion as “next prime minister” of India.
It all started with a tweet from news agency ANI where it quoted Rahul alleging that the then defence minister Manohar Parrikar was oblivious to the changes in the Rafale deal. Malik quoted the tweet to suggest that Rahul is only reiterating his claims on French aircraft deal.

Earlier, Malik went ballistic saying he “will expose Modi”. Instead, he not only exposed himself but his politics and how the Congress president is being used for it.

A former Indian ambassador to Pakistan told MyNation, requesting anonymity, “The reason Malik is saying all this now is to be relevant in the political discourse of Pakistan. But it will have ramification in our domestic politics as well. And I am afraid, it will hurt congress.”
This is not the first time that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is at the receiving end of Pakistanis.
After India summarily snubbed Pakistan for its proposal for foreign minister level talks on the sidelines of United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan posted an insinuating tweet, hitting out at Modi.
BJP refused to let go the opportunity. It slammed both Rahul and Pakistan.
