New Delhi/Panchkula: The Panchkula CBI court has granted Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh bail in the case of alleged castration of his male followers.

The Dera chief, along with two doctors, is accused of performing forced castrating on 400 of his followers. The victims were told that it would lead to the realisation of God through the Dera chief.

However, Ram Rahim would remain in jail for raping two of his women followers. He was convicted of the offence by a Panchkula court in August last year.

However, Ram Rahim is accused of many other crimes. Here are some of them:

1. Ram Rahim is accused of plotting the murder of Dera manager Ranjit Singh in July 2002. Ranjit was allegedly killed by his associates after he distanced himself from the organisation.

2. The Dera chief, along with three others, was booked for alleged involvement in the conspiracy and murder of Sirsa-based journalist Ram Chander Chhatrapati in 2002. He was killed after he reported on illegal activities inside the Dera headquaters.

3. In 2007, Ram Rahim triggered a controversy for wearing a dress similar to that of Sikh Guru Gobind Singh. However, in 2014, the case was withdrawn by the Punjab government.

4. The Dera has been accused of giving weapon training to its activists, following which the Army issued an advisory in December 2010. However, the Haryana government gave a clean chit to the sect in this case.
