BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav held a secret meeting with Sajjad Lone and others, hinting to provide an alternative to Kashmiri voters

Srinagar: A day after the election of mayor and deputy mayor of Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC), the BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav rushed to the Valley to hold secret meetings with rebel PDP-NC leaders at Hotel Taj Viventa in Srinagar.

Sources told MyNation that Madhav met People Conference's chief Sajjad Lone, National Conference rebel and SMC mayor Junaid Mattoo, PDP rebel Imran Ansari, his uncle Abid Ansari and former MLC Yasir Rishi in Srinagar.

Along with Mattoo, Madhav met several corporates and discussed the post-election scenario in Kashmir.

Some leaders of the BJP have also stationed themselves in the Valley and are likely to meet Madhav to discuss the post-municipal election scenario and the preparations for panchayat polls in the state.

Madhav’s meeting could also be seen as part of the BJP's central leadership's strategy to provide an alternative to Kashmiri voters other than the NC and PDP who have been exchanging the chairs of the rule since independence. Sajjad Lone-headed rebels have a stronghold in north Kashmir and the BJP is eyeing four out of six Lok Sabha seats in the upcoming general elections.
