He inaugurated a 'smart' fence from BSF Headquarters in Poloura. Along with HM, MoS PMO Jitendra Singh was also present.
A senior BSF official told MyNation that new smart border fence will help the jawans at the border outposts to detect any suspicious movement and to act against the intruder.
The two stretches of over 5 km each were inaugurated as a pilot project by the union home minister. This will act as an add-on to vigil BSF guard at the international border.
It is pertinent to mention that three Jaish terrorists who were gunned down in Jhajjar Kotli are believed to have crossed over to Indian territory through Tarna Nala area in Samba along the international border and is under BSF's surveillance.
What is CIBMS?
Comprehensive Integrated Border Management System (CIBMS) is an indigenously designed virtual fencing system. Equipped with the latest technology, the system would detect infiltration via land, underwater, air and tunnels and will be helpful to counter infiltration and cross-border terror.
CIBMS integrates, manpower, sensors and command and control so that situational awareness can be improved and quick reaction as per circumstances can be facilitated.
The first major components of CIBMS is the ‘virtual fence’. This will be very helpful, keeping the difficult geographical features in mind.
The second component is the command and control, to support in maximum utilization of resources for border management.
The third component is power management; with help of which the CIBMS can run without any interruptions.
CIBMS provide feeds to BSF personnel at the border outposts, where monitors would be installed. In case of a threat, quick reaction BSF teams will intervene and neutralise it.
