Pathanamthitta: The Kerala Police blocked Ayyappa Dharma Sena activist Rahul Easwar at Nilakkal on Saturday noon. Easwar was on his way to Sabarimala with his irumudi (an offering for Lord Ayyappa) when the police detained him at Nilakkal.

“The police now say that I can’t go beyond Pamba and if I dare to do so, I will be kept in preventive custody,” Easwar told media.

Later, police allowed him to go on that condition that he should not visit Sabarimala. While returning home, Rahul Easwar said that police was indulging in serious violation of human rights and he would move the high court on Monday against it.

Meanwhile, Ranni court has again rejected the bail plea of BJP state general secretary K Surendran. The case involves the incident in which he allegedly conspired to attack Thrissur native Lata (52), who had reached Sabarimala’s Sannidhanam for darshan.

The court also gave police permission to question Surendran for one hour. He can however talk to his family members over the phone in front of the jail superintendent.

After hearing Surendran’s plea to shift him to Thiruvananthapuram central jail as Kottarakkara jail lacked basic facilities, the court said it would consider the plea after getting the report of Kottarakkara jail superintendent in this regard.
