Tamil Nadu: This is the story of a constable with immense will power, who rose like a phoenix from being injured to winning the title of Mr Tamil Nadu in body building.
39-year-old Purushottam from Saidapet in Tamil Nadu, attached to Adyar Traffic Enforcement Wing, was continuously winning body building championships from 1997 to 2008, until he was badly injured in 2008, putting him under rest.
But Purushottham was not one to rest. He continued going to the gym, but couldn't train for competitions. It took him 10 years of hard work to get back into competitions. Thus from January 2018, he started training again for bodybuilding competitions and won Mr Chennai title in May. Later went on to win the title of Mr Tamil Nadu in September in 80 kg category.
Now, he is gearing up for national competitions and is looking forward to it.
Purushottham dreamt of getting into Southern Railways, but as he couldn't make it, he joined the police force in 2002, but continued to train in bodybuilding.
He works out at a gym in Kodabakkam and was initially trained by famous bodybuilder Rajender Mani.
