Punjab on high alert after 6 suspected terrorists spotted in Pathankot

New Delhi: For the third time in a month, an alert has been sounded in Punjab after six suspects were seen roaming in Pathankot area.

Shortly after the locals informed the police regarding the movement of suspected people in the area, Punjab Police launched a massive manhunt operation in Pathankot and it's adjoining areas.

A senior police official told MyNation that locals in the border village of Pathankot reported suspicious movement of six people roaming in the area wearing Army combat. He said, “Keeping in view the recent terror threats, we have launched a search operation in the area”.

"Since Army movement in this area is not a common sight, we are keeping a vigil at any suspicious movement to ensure peace in the area", he added.

In the past 15 days, a series of suspicious movements was noticed in Punjab after which a grenade attack was carried out at Nirankari Bhawan by pro-Khalistan radicals on November 18.

Security agencies also sounded an alert keeping in view the high-profile visit of President Ram Nath Kovind next week. President Kovind will be laying the foundation stone of Kartarpur corridor, connecting Sikh pilgrims with Nankana Sahib.
