Uttar Pradesh: In an attack on Thursday evening in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district, a Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist attacked a bus carrying the CRPF personnel with vehicles carrying explosives, in which at least 40 jawans were killed. This is the worst terror attack since the Uri attack in 2016.
About 12 of the martyred soldiers are from Uttar Pradesh. The homes have lost not just their loved one, but the bread winner too after this incident.
The C-17 Jawan of the Indian Air Force will bring the dead bodies of the martyrs from Kashmir. Uttar Pradesh's chief minister Yogi Adityanath has announced financial assistance of Rs 25 lakh for the families of the 12 martyrs of UP. In view of the attack today, a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) under the chairmanship of PM Modi was held.
The meeting was attended by defence minister Nirmala Sitharaman, home minister Rajnath Singh, external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj, the three chiefs of staff and the CRPF's DG. After the meeting, finance minister Arun Jaitley said that Pakistan will be isolated in a diplomatic manner. Most favoured nation status will be withdrawn from Pakistan.
Over 2500 personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force were travelling in a convoy of 78 vehicles. Most of them were returning to duty after spending their holidays in their respective destinations. The convoy was attacked on the Jammu-Kashmir highway at around 3:30 pm.
In this attack, at least 40 CRPF jawans have been killed and there is a wave of grief sweeping the country. Everyone is condemning the attack seeking justice for the family of those martyrs.
