Wayanad: Kerala native VV Vasanthakumar was killed in the Pulwama attack when a Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into the bus that the CRPF jawans were travelling in.

The Pakistan-based JeM has claimed responsibility for the attack that left at least 44 personnel dead and many critically wounded.

Vasanthakumar, a native of Wayanad, Kerala, was the 82nd battalion member of the CRPF. He had 18 years of service and had only two more years remaining to retire. On February 2, he came home on leave on and returned on the 9th. He is survived by his wife and two children. Sajeevan, brother of Vasanthakumar, said to media that he feels proud to be Vasanthakumar's brother and that he (Vasanthakumar) sacrificed his life for our country.

The experts said the terror strike shows the United States has failed to persuade Pakistan to act against Jaish-e-Mohammad and other terrorist groups.
