Tirupur: A woman, believed to be a BJP office bearer, raised pro-Narendra Modi slogans at a protest demonstration led by the MDMK chief Vaiko in Tirupur on Sunday. Vaiko was protesting against Modi’s visit to Tamil Nadu. The woman entered the spot and raised pro-Modi slogans when Vaiko was continuously hitting out at Prime Minister Modi saying that he had been ''betraying the interests of Tamil Nadu."
The MDMK chief stated that Tamil Nadu had been "betrayed" on key issues like the River Cauvery water sharing and also said that Modi had not paid a visit to the state in the aftermath of Cyclone Gaja. The police were swift in whisking the woman away while the frenzied party members, holding black flags tried to gherao the BJP woman.
Meanwhile, Vaiko, who was addressing the MDMK cadres in an open truck, asked them to maintain peace. Vaiko had held a similar protest against Modi on January 27 when he visited Madurai to lay the first foundation stone for AIIMS hospital.
