The deceased's family seeks Sushma Swaraj’s help to bring body home for last rites
A 35-year-old man, Zulfikar Ahmad from Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir was shot dead over a minor issue by his colleague in Saudi Arabia on Wednesday.
Ahmad was working as a labourer in Saudi Arabia. The accused has been arrested by the Saudi authorities, but the family is not financially equipped to bring the body back home. The family of Ahmad has pinned their hope on External Affairs Minister, Sushma Swaraj to ensure that they receive help from the Indian embassy there to get their son’s dead body.
The residents of Keri Gultha village in Mendhar area, Poonch district were shocked to see the photo of bullet-ridden Zulfikar Ahmad. He was shot dead by one of his colleagues over some issue at Tareeb area in Saudi Arabia.
On financial grounds, the family of Zulfikar has urged Ministry of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj to help them.
Mohd Iqbal, Father of Zulfikar Ahmad, told MyNation over the phone, "We are poor people. My son has a wife and a 3-month-old child. We lost everything. The entire village is in shock about the incident. We request the government of India, especially Sushma Swaraj Ji to help us, we want to see our boy for the last time."
Javed Rana, a local MLA while speaking to MyNation said, "It's very unfortunate that our people are not safe outside the country. I urge the government to ensure safety of Indian people working in different parts of the world. I request External Affairs Ministry to look into this matter and bring back the body for the last rites".
