As of September 18, 2018, petrol prices in Mumbai stand at Rs 89.54 per litre, Rs 82.16 per litre in Delhi, Rs 82.82 per litre in Bengaluru and Rs 84.01 per litre in Kolkata. Several citizens and political parties have been blaming the Centre for the rise in prices. Congress and some of its allies called for a Bharat Bandh on September 10. However, it is the excise duty levied by the State that shoots up fuel prices. So, to the people who believe that the Centre is responsible for their fuel woes need to start questioning their State's fuel policies as well.
