New Delhi: Officials of the Directorate of Inspection/Registration of Private Institution (DIRPIS) Sindh suspended the registration of a Karachi-based school after its students were found performing on the song ‘Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani’ — a popular Bollywood number from Shah Rukh Khan’s 2000 blockbuster with the same name.

Videos of the performance, which surfaced online, showed children of ‘Mama Baby Care School’ dancing to the song with the Indian tricolour in the backdrop.

According to reports, the DIRPIS officials said that the performance was  “highly objectionable”.

“Promoting Indian culture in educational institutions was against Pakistan’s national dignity which could not be tolerated in any circumstances,” the officials added, as reported.

Meanwhile, Fathima, the schools vice president, said that the event was held to educate the students about the cultures of different countries across the world. She also said that the performance has pieces about US, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and other countries.

The decision of the DIRPIS came after India launched a scathing attack on Pakistan after the brutal Pulwama massacre.

At least 40 CRPF jawans were killed on February 14 after a Jaish-e-Mohammed suicide bomber rammed an SUV car with 350 kg of explosives into a security convoy at Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also sent a strong message to Pakistan.

“I want to tell the terror outfits and those aiding and abetting them that they have made a big mistake. They will have to pay a very heavy price for their actions. Let me assure the nation that those behind this attack, the perpetrators of this attack will be punished,” he said.
