Pakistan's BAT team, comprising the Pakistan Army and terrorists, tried to sneak in from across the LoC in Khari Karmara sector on Thursday evening under the cover of heavy shelling by the Pakistan Rangers
Srinagar: The Pakistan Army on Thursday violated the ceasefire in the Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir, along the line of control (LoC), within hours of calling for a break in the exchange of fire across the LoC, in DGMO talks.
Army PRO Lt Col Devender Anand, while confirming ceasefire violation, said, "Pakistan have resorted to unprovoked ceasefire violation along the line of control in the Poonch sector. Pakistan Army restored to heavy firing at around 10 pm in the evening. Firing is still underway and our forces are retaliating effectively."
This violation came around five hours after DGMO level talks were held between India and Pakistan. India raised its concern over the increase in terror activities on the northern side of the Pir Panjal ranges. MyNation had reported on August 9 that there are 30-35 terror launch pads in the Pir Panjal ranges on the other side of the LoC.
Highly placed Army sources told MyNation that it was a notorious Border Action Team (BAT) action planned by the Pakistan Army which was backed by cover fire from the Paksitan Rangers.
Pakistan's BAT team, comprising the Pakistan Army and terrorists, tried to sneak in from across the LoC in the Khari Karmara sector on Thursday evening under the cover of heavy shelling by the Pakistan Rangers but the alert Indian Army jawans foiled their nefarious designs.

Jawans of the Indian Army fought back and inflicted major casualties on the Pakistani intruders. The number of casualties cannot be ascertained yet as the operation is still underway.
"The modus operandi adopted by the Pakistan Army and Rangers, and their supported terrorists in this instance is similar to the attempts made in the recent past," said an Army official.
"Pakistan has repeatedly failed to fulfil its commitment on the Ceasefire Violation Agreement and the January 2004 commitment on not allowing its land to be used for terror activities against India," he added.
The Indian Army, in past four days, has foiled two infiltration bids backed by the Pakistan Army and Rangers in the Tangdhar sector of north Kashmir and Nowshera sector of Jammu.
