One teacher, three students, no basic facilities: Government school faces closure in Karnataka

Gadag: The school at LPS Bandemma Nagara, Gadag, Karnataka, has one teacher and just three students. Out of the three students, only two are regular. Teacher HS Sunkad expressed disappointment over the number of students and also complained about the lack of basic facilities like water and midday meal. The Deputy Director of Public Instructions (DDPI) said if the teacher is qualified, he will be posted in a different school. The reason for the drastic drop in the number of students is mass migration due to drought in the region.
