Former Andhra Pradesh chief minister NT Rama Rao's son-in-law said that his wife Daggubati Purandeswari's continuance in BJP would not hinder the prospects of his son as it was a conscious decision taken. And, if need be, Purandeswari may 'quit' politics.

Hyderabad:  On Sunday, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) founder and former Andhra Pradesh Minister NT Rama Rao's son-in-law Daggubati Venkateswara Rao called on YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, and said his son Hitesh Chenchuram would be joining his party "very soon".

A press release from YSRCP quoted Rao as saying that his wife Daggubati Purandeswari's continuance in BJP would not hinder the prospects of his son as it was a conscious decision taken. And, if need be, she may "quit" politics. He also said that there was no such eventuality and no pressure from any side.

On reports that Parchur Assembly seat would be given to Hitesh in the coming Andhra Pradesh Assembly election, Rao said, "It will be the YSR Congress's decision, and his son will abide by whatever the party says."

Despite belonging to NT Rama Rao's TDP family with wife owing allegiance to the BJP, Rao said that he was impressed with Jagan's style of functioning.

On Monday, Dagubatti Purandeswari clarified the rumours of her quitting the BJP after her husband and son met Jagan on Sunday. Speaking to the reporters, Purandeswari said that wherever the BJP would give her a ticket, she would contest in the Lok Sabha election. She also made it clear that she will not be changing the party.

Rumours suggest that Hitesh Chenchuram is expected to be given the seat, which his father once held -- Parchur. The YSRCP is confident that Hitesh’s entry along with his father's support would help them in Prakasam district in Andhra Pradesh where the family holds influence.
