Nirmala Sitharaman pays last respects to Pulwama martyr Sivachandran Kumar in Tamil Nadu

Ariyalur: Defence minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Union minister Anant Kumar Hegde paid their last respects to CRPF constable C Sivachandran in Tamil Nadu's Trichy. Sivachandran was among the 40 jawans who were martyred in Pulwama in one of the deadliest attacks on the security forces in Kashmir, on February 14. On Thursday, a Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) suicide bomber rammed an SUV carrying over 200kg of explosives, into a CRPF bus in Pulwama district.

Sivachandran, who belongs to Karugudi village, near Ariyalur, had resumed duty on February 9. He had joined the CRPF in 2010 and is survived by his wife Kanthimathi and a two-year-old son.
