New year shame recurs, women molested in Bengaluru

Two years after the shameful incident of molestation during New Year celebration in Bengaluru, the feared act has once again reared its ugly head. This time a 31-year-old woman was touched on the back by three youths at Richmond Road and her husband was beaten when he confronted the culprits. 
 

Bengaluru: Despite efforts of Bengaluru City Police to ensure that the New Year celebration is a safe one, a shameful incident once again resurfaced where a 31-year-old woman was molested, and her husband was bashed up by hooligans. This brings to light similar incidents that took place in 2016

According to police, the couple from Bihar residing in Jayanagar were headed home after witnessing New Year celebrations at Brigade and MG Road. In her complaint, the woman said that the couple were stopped on Richmond Road by three people at 1am and they began to touch her behind.

"The woman complained to her husband first. Her husband confronted them only to get banged up. The couple approached us. We soon swung into action and arrested one and are in search for the other two accused," said a police officer from Ashok Nagar Police Station.

A case under Indian Penal Code section 341,505,506,323, 354(A), 379 and 34 have been registered.
